Week 5 Fantasy Football Rankings

Week 5 Fantasy Football Rankings

OPENING CARDS bout to be a big ting for us

Make sure you're following my homie Danny over @DimeCards on Instagram.

He sent me over an absolute HOWITZER this week, should be coming in today:

We're gonna be doing some breaks, opening some packs some boxes, have a good time, i wont be putting my greasy fingers all over the cards i promise. We'll probably be putting up either teams or whole divisions for the box breaks to buy. Gonna be fun as fuck, this stuff is so addicting, opening the packs. So, make sure you're following him, myself on IG, twitter, and have notifications turned on for the channel so you don't miss the details of how exactly we're going to be doing this ting.

ALSO - talk about the rules for your league if games get PPD.

The running back position gets super dicey this week after like the top-15.

My approach is likely going to be to start the guys we know are the workhorses in their offense. Here's what I mean.

McKinnon's been great, but Mostert returned to practice this week.

Last night we had RoJo, likely no Fournette (I film this thursday afternoon so I have no idea.)

Le'Veon Bell is expected to return this week.

Cam Akers expected to return this week.

Philip Lindsay expected to return this week.

Zack Moss expected to return this week.

Shit is crazy right now with the mid-low-end RB2s.

So here's what I'm going to do for y'all whether you're a patreon or not, I'm going to read my rankings for RB17-24 and a quick elevator pitch on each onnnadem.

I have Antonio Gibson at RB17, home vs LAR. Kyle Allen under center, Id imagine the RBs are going to be most of their game plan.

RB17

I have Antonio Gibson at RB17, home vs LAR. Kyle Allen under center, Id imagine the RBs are going to be most of their game plan.

Few things to note here.

So, washington actually leads the NFL right now in GL carries (inside the 5). Barber has 6, Gibson has 5, Haskins 4.

Only one of Barber's 6 have come after week 1, he's been obselete. Haskins is now benched. This opens up Gibson to basically take over the entire GL area for Washington.

To play devil's advocate, while he is coming off of a big receiving game, J.D. McKissic is still very much in charge of that role. He has out-targeted and out-caught Gibson. He's also been running far more routes than Gibson.

Not that he should be, but that's what's happening. Gibson has major upside if he can take over the 3rd down role, it just hasn't happened yet.

The Rams aren't an easy matchup, but they let a RB go over 120 YFS in each of the first three weeks, that streak was unsurprisingly snapped by NYG last week, but Gibson has real upside in this one.

RB18

I have Ronald Jones - y'all already know what happened with him while watching this video. Fournette was doubtful so it looks to be RoJo's backfield completely, have to think he gets the majority of the work, tough defense vs. CHI in Chicago, going to be interesting to see what kind of role KeShawn Vaughn has this week.

No Godwin, id be surprised if Evans plays, if he does very likely a decoy. So heavy usage for RBs on the ground and in the passing game. Probably gonna be a shitty low scoring game, maybe no big playmakers get into the EZ.

RB19

I actually have Jerick McKinnon here. McKinnon's been great in Mostert's abscence. He's put up 11.9 halfFPPG in every game this year, 15+ in each of the last two, and now gets Miami traveling cross country.

Now, Mostert came byke to practice this week limited fashion. I'm not sure if he suits up, but Jimmy G I expect to, and the 9ers are 9 points favorites in this one. I doubt they ask Jimmy to do too much and if Mostert plays, they certainly don't need to rely on him.

I wasn't sure if Shanahan would trust giving McKinnon a big workload, but 17 touches in Week 3, 21 last week - he's got the trust and no need to rush Mostert in here given the opponent. Miami allowed 24 FPs to Carson last week, 28 to James Robinson the week before. I still feel plenty good about having McKinnon in my lineup despite Mostert's return.

RB20

I have Melvin Gordon here. Coming off of a big week for Gordon so this might be a little surprising, but half of it came on the 43 yard TD run to win the game in the 4th. He's been okay otherwise.

This is more Philip Lindsay being back, most likely. I think it goes back to a split backfield and almost immediately. And vs the Patriots it's a very tough opponent, in Foxborough.

Most of the time, while Gordon can be great for fantasy bc the role he has is a lot of valuable volume, he's not really good enough to beat good defenses. In his career, his splits vs. top-10 run defenses vs the rest of the league are pretty big:

But regardless, nothing fancy here, just think Lindsay being back + Patriots on the road not a good formula for success. Always has a chance to get into the EZ and get you 12-15 points so he's a solid RB2.

RB21

Kenyan Drake is at 21 for me. He's been terrible, he's not getting passing work, and he might be banged up. I haven't heard anything about his ribs, so I guess you have to assume he just got the wind knocked out of him. Regardless, despite his poor play, he's still 12th in overall touches.

The gambling game is saying, well, which week do the touches start to mirror the efficiency, so just know that it could be any given Sunday for the Chase Edmonds show.

Kliff believes in him, they paid him a lot this offseason, I think we'll get another week or so out of Drake touches so he's okay to start but I don't feel good about it.

Everyone likes to be smart by saying the Jets are a really tough matchup for fantasy backs, but they're allowing the 7th most points to the position right now, and also allowing 33 points per game to opponents, 3rd worst in the NFL - so it's not a shy away matchup by any means.

RB22

ALREADY PLAYED IN TNF David Montgomery here. He's been pretty brutal over the last two weeks since Cohen has gone down, but the opportunity is there. He's getting almost all the ground work and a ton of the receiving work which is good to see coming from a new QB bc it means it's probably sticky.

But now he gets the Bucs who have been absolutely lights out against RBs for nearly two years now.

  • Held Kamara to 12-16 in week 1.
  • Cmac 18-59 in week 2
  • MGIII 8-25 in week 3
  • Jackson/Kelley a combined 15-16 in week 4.

That's a combined 2.18 ypc between those five backs. It's gonna be an issue for D-Mont.

RB23

Assuming this game happens, which it probably doesn't, Devin Singletary is here for me. He's been pretty good without Moss, but Moss is expected byke in Week 5 for this game and if it doesn't happen, he'll definitely be ready for Week 6. That's obviously gonna take some work from Singletary. Even that, like Singletary has as many GL carries as Moss and he's missed half the season. Josh Allen leads the team with 4 GL carries.

So, Singletary's a guy with a relatively low ceiling due to his role, who's floor gets chopped a bit by Moss's return.

Though, Tennessee hasn't been great against the run and just lost Jeffery Simmons to the COVID list. Simmons was their 1st round pick last year that missed most of the year because they drafted him hurt - and he's graded out as the #3 interior lineman per PFF up to this point in the season. So on his way to a breakout this year a big lowkey loss for tennesee.

RB24

As of this recording I haven't decided on my RB24 so I lied to yall. What else is new.

Sign up on Patreon if you want the full rankings ya bish.

Some other names you might be interested in:

I have D. Freeman at RB32 my analysis is that it's the Cowboys.

Justin Jackson at RB37 - something I want to see before he's in my lineup. Very tough matchup on the road in NOLA.

With Cam Akers byke, I have Henderson at RB28, Brown at RB33, Akers RB40. Its not pretty. I'm probably forced into playing Henderson in ETGD, especially since im gonna be without my two QBs Cam and Tannehill.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Justin Jefferson vs. SEA

Love him again this week. No Jamal Adams, kid is so legit.

I have him at WR18 right now, ahead of OBJ and ahead of JuJu.

SEA allowed 336 yards/game to WRs alone. (mike tags)

Tight Ends

I just want to start off with Mo Alie-Cox. I have no idea what to do with this guy.

The guy's routes are in the single digits. He's warming pine more times than not. But he's been so fucking good when he's on the field.
