Basement Sports Cards - Dibbs MLB Drop March 29th
BIG DOG NATION
With the start of the MLB season this week, we are going over the 5 MLB Dibbs drops that are being released on March 29th at 1:00PM EST.
2019 Topps Chrome Fernando Tatis Jr.
Orange Wave Refractor Auto /25 PSA 10
This big 3 in the MLB are known as Ronald Acuna Jr, Juan Soto, and Fernando Tatis. The one thing that Tatis has going for him that the others don't - personal marketing. His on and off field swag put him at a level that keeps him popular in the hobby and helps him stand apart from the other two. His defensive skills have improved making him possibly the best all around player between all three.
This card has recently sold for $45k on ebay. Additionally, with 25 of these cards in existence and only 4 with a PoP count of a PSA 10, we are certainly trying to get some of this card.

2018 Topps Chrome Update Juan Soto
X-Fractor Auto /125 BGS 9.5
The next member of the big 3 in the MLB is Juan Soto. If we had to choose one hitter in the MLB to enter the batters box for us, it would hands down be him. Entering the 2021 season at the age of 22, Soto is on pace to be the one of the best MLB hitters of all time at this rate. This card is priced above market average as we have seen this go at a PSA 10 for less than this BGS 9.5 on a few occasions. Soto needs to improve his game defensively, but luckily the bat drives the card prices and not the glove.
Buying Confidence: 8.1
2017 Bowman Chrome Prospect Auto Ronald Acuna Jr
The 2018 NL rookie of the year came into the league hot and has stayed hot ever since. Acuna is arguably the fastest power hitter we have seen in the last 20 years in the league. He is consistently a 40 HR / 40 steal candidate every season and is defensively a gold glove candidate every season. This cards price is slightly over market average, but Acuna's cards have been on a consistent rise. If this card was numbered we would have put this as our #1 card to buy, but not knowing the scarcity limits our buying confidence.
Buying Confidence: 7.5
2017 Bowman Chrome Aaron Judge
Gold Refractor Auto /50 BGS 9.5
As a life long Red Sox fan, its tough for me to ask you all to do this, but please..
When healthy Aaron Judge is one of the most feared batters in the league. Emphasis on "when healthy", as Judge has not played more than 112 games aside from his historic 2017 rookie season when he broke the record for most home runs by a rookie (later broken by Pete Alonso).
With two years left on his contract, it looks like the Yankee's could offer Judge a long term contract to keep him in NY for a long time. There is some long term value here with this card being 1 out of 50, but short term wise this card is priced above what we would be looking to pay.
Buying Confidence: 6.3
2019 Bowman Chrome Wander Franco
Green Refractor Auto /99 BGS 9.5
Wander Franco will come into the 2021 season as the #1 ranked prospect for a second year in a row. The difference this season? He is projected to make his way to the majors for the Rays at some point this season, but we don't know exactly when. Minor league development is important for his growth and the Rays aren't quite in need to fill many holes in their lineup. We can see Franco brought up to the majors possibly this summer in June/July so this is a great long term investment.
